Audio Storytelling

Say What

What would a horror story be without a creaking door, blood curdling scream, or sound of a gun shot blasting?  The audio can aid in storytelling in ways that even visual effects cannot.  The history of storytelling over of the radio and even the current interest in books on tape are testimonies to people interests in the audio storytelling.  The sound of music when it starts soft and gets louder and faster to portray something such as someone who is walking, then going a little faster, then running.  The music pattern helps build the excitement or suspense of what is happening in the story.  With such sound effects the stories would be lacking in some level of excitement or suspense.  There are some sound effects used in storytelling that will forever stirrup the emotion that was it was used for in the original story; classics like Jaws.
